Loopy Official Report on Wireless Charging

Apple’s new iPhone 8/+ and X have wireless charging capabilities. So, does it work with a Loopy Case? In short, we are not sure yet. Apple will not have their ‘AirPower’ wireless charging available until next year. There may be 3rd party accessories available before then, though.  What we can do is predict how it will work by looking at other phones that already use this technology.

Samsung has had wireless charging for some time now and Loopy has a large Samsung fan base. Here are some of the reports from people in the Loop on using wireless charging:

“I've had a loopy for a long time and I've also had phones that charge wirelessly. I just take off the case when I put my phone on my charger at night. The loopy fits great, but is really easy to remove. Some cases fit tightly and are annoying to remove, and even make you feel like you'll break the phone. The loopy case, however, comes off smoothly with little effort.” – Katie S.

“If you turn your phone around front against the charger it will charge. You just can't see when it is finished or any notifications, but it will charge my Samsung front or back. The loop does prevent it from charging wirelessly [through the back of the phone]. So it's a small inconvenience for an awesome case.” Jessica L.

“Love my loopy case. Phone feels so much more secure. Have not dropped it on my face in bed which is something we all have done. Only drawback is I cannot wirelessly charge my phone on the passive charger with the phone facing out but otherwise it's the best. I will definitely order another when I upgrade my phone once the new case is available. Note 8 please! Thank you for a great product and solution Loopy!” - Jessica L.

In summary, if wireless charging with Loopy installed doesn’t work, our cases are incredibly easy to un/install which will make it a breeze to take on and off when using your wireless charging pad. It is possible that wireless charging with the new iPhones can work face down, but we will have to wait and see if that is true like it is with most Samsung and Pixel phones. We hope that you find the perks of your Loopy Case outweigh the con of possibly not working with wireless charging like it has for our Android fans.

Hold Your Phone with Your Left Hand?

Not a problem!

Below are some frequently asked questions to help you decide if a lefty model Loopy is for you.  In short, it's all about which hand you predominantly HOLD your phone with :)

If you'd like to purchase a left-handed Loopy, simply type out 'LEFTY' in your order during checkout in the notes section. If you're ordering multiple Loopy Cases, please note which models you'd like a LEFTY version of as well.

Do I need a left-handed model Loopy?

The best way to decide whether you need a left-handed version is answered by this question: which hand do you hold your phone with MOST of the time? If the left hand, please request a LEFTY model via the instructions above. If the right hand, no note is needed since this is the default orientation for Loopy :)

What is the difference between a lefty and righty Loopy?

The loop angle. We set the loop at a specific angle for the most comfort and best performance of your case. You can see the loop angle below:

Can I still use my phone with my right hand if I get a lefty model?

Absolutely. Most of us here at Loopy HQ use our cases with both hands with EASE. Our loops are made to be comfortable and versatile for use with both of your hands. The loop angle is simply there to give you maximum comfort with your dominant hand, but does not hinder your ability to use it with the other.

I'm right-handed but use my phone with my left hand. Should I get a lefty?

Think about the question within the first FAQ question written here. This should help you determine what is best for you!

Anything else I should know?

Keep in mind that you will be able to use your phone one-handed with a Loopy. This is a game changer! Using your phone one-handed is awesome. Select your dominant hand based on the info above and you shouldn't have a problem at all :)
