What to do if you crack your iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus screen?

/ Jim Wangercyn

So you have done the inevitable, you’ve dropped your phone.  As it's faced down on the pavement your whole life with your phone flashes before your eyes.  So many conversation, pictures, and laughs.  As you pick it up you see that your fear has come to life, the screen's cracked.  What now?  Here’s some options.

Repair it Yourself

If you are up for the challenge repairing it yourself is possible with the help of YouTube.  JerryRigEverything has a very detailed video on YouTube that shows you step by step what needs to be done.  He also has links in the description to all of the parts and tools necessary.  Based off his video, doing this will cost around $100.  We’ve had many conversations with screen repair professionals who say people do it themselves and their phone is just never the same, so they take it to the pros.  If you’re not completely confident in your tinkering abilities consider this, “Buy it nice or buy it twice.”

Send it to Apple

According to apple’s website, under warranty an iphone 6 cracked screen repair will cost $109 but if you are not under warranty it will cost $299.  So if you are under warranty this is a pretty good option but if not then on to the next option.

Third Party

iCracked is a very unique and useful repair service.  They actually come to your house and repair your screen for around $149-169.  It will take them 30 minutes to an hour to repair your cracked screen.

Look Local

Search “screen repair” in your local area using yelp.com or google maps.  Read through a few testimonials to see if they’re reputable.  Also, be on the watch for inflated reviews - companies often times have friends and family boost them!  Franchises are often a better bet for a quality repair that they’ll stand behind.  Industry favorites are CPR and uBreakiFix.

Don’t Drop Your Phone in the First Place

Once you repair your phone, you are going to need a case that will best protect your phone.  Leaving your phone bare is obviously not an option anymore.  There are tons of different cases on the market but there is only one that will actually prevent you from dropping your phone.  The Loopy Vibe does this with a patented, adjustable finger loop on the back of the case.  Your phone holds you instead of you holding your phone.  Check out the videos below for more information on the Loopy Vibe or visit the Loopy Vibe Iphone 6 case product page.
